Injection-Molded Bottle Opener

A compact consumer part designed for injection molding — from form development and mold tooling through a finished, surface-treated production piece.

Andbru developed this bottle opener as a complete injection-molding program: a small, manufacturable form, a matched two-part mold, and a finished part ready for surface treatment. The geometry is a rounded triangular rotor profile — compact enough for clean fill and demolding, distinctive enough to read as a designed object rather than a stock opener.

The mold was built with alignment features so both halves register accurately, with gated fill and venting sized for a short-run production process. That tooling is what turns a CAD solid into a repeatable plastic part.

After molding, the part received secondary finishing — sanding and a metal-silver coating — so the production piece carries the intended material look. The project is a direct demonstration of Andbru’s injection-molding capability: design for mold, build the tool, deliver the part.
